Can you believe it, between Flo and I, we have received 42 squares! Now call me a dork but i think that is an awesome number, especially given that its the answer to the question of life, ah but we don't know the question do we... Sorry tree branched there for a second.

As of right now and to my knowledge i am only currently waiting on two squares (from Ratty and her adorable sister) once i have those two and the group that Flo has (which i hope he will be able to mail off before the end of the week) the quilting party shall be happening. I along with two other muffins shall be taking over the home of Lambchop and his awesome wife to (hopefully) complete the quilt in a day...

Yes, we are up to 15 square that have been received, all of them are amazing. The quilt is going to be fantastic when finished. I shall be posting pictures later of the the 15th square (from Fatalstic Fortune) i just need to get batteries.

Also i shall begin looking for the backing fabric today, so that i have an idea of what fabrics will work the best, I'm aiming for soft and something befitting the muffins and the asylum. So wish me luck... :D

A few sentences...

Two updates in the same day, i must be losing my mind... haha... anyways, i thought i would post this here along with one the forum...

After some thought i think it would be nice for each person that is doing a square write up a short (a few sentences) about their square and how it represents them, so that EA will have more of an idea of what each square represents about or for that muffin. The write ups (along with a small picture of the square) would be put into a pdf file and given to EA along with the quilt.

The first US square...

So the first US square was received (a short time ago), i apologize for the lack of update when it first arrived i had a bit of a technofail occur.

The square was sent by the talented lady-kit, who also sent me a lovely note along. Thank you lady-kit.

It's cute, it's clever... It's a deadline...

It has been decided that there will now be a deadline for the squares... They can be mailed no later than September 1st, 2009... (there is a chance the deadline may be extended at some point, so keep your eyes open and your needles moving...)

The First Sqaure...

So my other half on this project has received the first finished square from Victoria Vague ( the square is pictured on the right), and while i have not seen the square in person i can tell from the picture that it is awesome.

And i cannot wait to receive more squares so that the process of putting the quilt together can begin to take place and the muffins can watch the quilt grow slowly square by square.

A short update...

So as of today there are 25, yes you read that right, muffins who are definitely going to create squares, and 14 that maybe will... Which of course is very cool...

And there are at least 2 squares that have already been finished or at least near completion…

Muffins totally rock.

The Basics...

The Idea:
a quilt, but not just your average everyday quilt, this will be a joint effort quilt, the individual squares being made by muffins of the Official Emilie Autumn forum to represent themselves and or their country. The quilt, when completed, will be given to Miss Autumn as a gift.

The imagery:
Anything the muffins can dream up that represents of the muffin or group of muffins. All that is required is the muffin(s) forum name and country(ies)

The material:
Anything the muffins can dream up to use, as long as its fabric, you can do things like old ea t-shirts, custom drawn designs, or whatever fabric you have laying around. You can add trinkets and beads if you wish, but try not to go over aboard with them, remember this is a quilt that will be used so we want it to be comfortable and snuggly, so please avoid adding things like safety pins as they can open to easily and poke whoever is snuggled with the quilt.

Dimension:
8 inch by 8 inch (20.32 CM by 20.32 CM) square with a small seam allowance (about ¼ of an inch or .635 cm) to allow the squares to be sewn together to create the final quilt.

The skill level involved:
None really, muffins do not have to be able to sew to create a square, material and fabric markers could make for an amazing looking square.

Sending the finished squares:
Simply e-mail MuffnAsylumQuilt@gmail.com to learn where the square will be sent.
